Thousands of free Claude skills exist beyond this collection. Most never get installed because the marketplace is overwhelming. The 5-minute tour that shows you how to find the good ones, avoid the bad, and install in 30 seconds.

WHAT'S A "SKILLS MARKETPLACE"

A directory of public Claude skills built by developers, companies, and the Claude community. Free. You browse, find one that matches a need, install in your account.

There are a few:

Anthropic's official catalog (built into Claude.ai — Settings → Skills)
Community directories (third-party, larger selection, less curation)
GitHub (skill repos by developers — most varied)

Each has tradeoffs. Official is safer; community is broader; GitHub is bleeding-edge.

HOW TO BROWSE WITHOUT GETTING OVERWHELMED

The trap: scroll for 20 minutes, install nothing, close the tab.

The fix: search by need, not by category.

Don't browse "Productivity" or "Marketing." Search the SPECIFIC pain you have:

"weekly review"
"email triage"
"meeting notes"
"client onboarding"

The first 3 results almost always include what you need. Stop scrolling at 5.

THE 3-FILTER METHOD

For any skill you're considering:

1. Install count. Anything under 1,000 installs = treat as risky. The leaderboard exists for exactly this reason.

2. Author. Stick to known companies (Anthropic, Vercel, etc.) or developers with multiple skills published. Anonymous one-skill accounts = skip.

3. Read the SKILL.md before installing. Even just skimming. Look for: what does it actually do? Does it match the description?

If a skill passes all 3 filters, it's safe to try. (Day 43 covers the deeper safety check.)

These have the best skills available:

Writing & editing (lots of high-quality options)
Productivity / planning (overlap with this collection)
Code / development (massive selection)
Data analysis (specific, useful)
Research (academic, journalistic, business)

Skip for now (newer / lower quality):

"Personality" skills
Game-like skills
Anything claiming to "make you go viral"

WHEN TO INSTALL FROM THE MARKETPLACE vs. THIS COLLECTION

Use marketplace skills for:

Niche tasks this collection doesn't cover (your specific industry, hobby, technical role)
Power-user features beyond the 100 in this series
Trying ideas before building your own

Use THIS collection for:

The 100 day journey (sequenced, each builds on the last)
Pre-vetted safety (everything here passed the audit)
Consistency in voice (everything matches the Mariah-style we use)

THE 5-MINUTE TOUR

Set a timer. Do these 5 things in 5 minutes:

Open the marketplace (Claude.ai → Settings → Skills, or visit the community directory)
Search ONE specific pain you have
Open the top 3 results — read titles + descriptions only
Install ONE — the one with the highest install count + most-known author
Test it in a new chat

5 minutes. You've installed your first marketplace skill.
